This is a large question !...

I do not believe that there is one cable that is the best cable ... because your final judgement on the cable change will be based on the sound coming out of your entire system, and it will be of course influenced by the other devices you own.

Nevertheless, there are some persistent thoughts from the people having already tried a cable upgrade on the Threshold (SA series):

-the Threshold SA internal cabling was maybe good at the the time they have been manufactured, but it does not match the nowdays high quality standards...

-Regarding the power cables: I mean the high diameter cables used for the high A currents, there are very often the classical "Monster cable" 4mm2. You will be advised to replace them by OCC (which is better than its OFC brother) solid core 4mm2 (same gauge than the cable you replace, it may e lower or bigger than 4mm2 depending on the SA model you upgrade), preferably uninsulated, and you can try a thick cotton insulation instead of a classical PVC insulation (be cautious: insulation must be good, high currents are running through them: if you are unsure of what you are doing, use the regular PVC insultion, far less risky).

-Regarding the smaller internal modulation cables, there are mainly 2 approaches: the Kimber Silver approach, and the OCC copper solid core approach (for example the Neotech OCC) or the Audience OHNO copper (it is not solid core but it is one of the best). You will be advised to use a thick cotton insulation instead of PVC.

Whatever you decide, it is highly recommended to chaneg only 1 thing at a time to not change many things in the same time: for example if you change the power internal cables wimultaneously with the internal modulation cables, you will not be ble to determine what change provides the improvement...

Do not forget that the connectors (RCA and Speakers) will benefit from an upgrade too...

Hope this helps,

Hi Jpetek,

I agree with yhe cables you, the cables can make a huge change. But take care to the silver cables: they sometimes change the sonic signature and sonic balance, so I personnaly consider using them as more risky than UP-OCC or OHNO copper cables....

Can you send us a photo of your internal cabling ?
