Dear Sirs,
Need your support.
I am Threshold lover.
I have Poweramp:Threshold S/500 and Pre:Threshold FET10e.
I live in Thailand.
I would like to change AC fuse.on my S/500 and I found fuse table at back of s500 show AC power = 15amp Fast blow.. (Now using 15amp/never change)
I would like to know;
Is this mean 15amp for 120 V. right?
And in Thailand we use electricity = 220V. Can i use fuse 8 amp (220V) instead 15 amp(120v)?
My friend said if we use electricity 120V, I must use fuse 15amp follow on fuse table on back of s/500. But In Thailand, Electricity is 220V, so I can use 8amp fuse.
If you read my mail. Please advise me.
Thank you very much.
Wish to here from you soon.

If the Thailand voltage is 220V, the first thing you MUST do is to transform the internal transformer to adapt it to 220V: otherwise, your amplifier will...die !
Adapting a Threshold amp to 220V is VERY simple because most of the Threshold transformers accepts both 120V and 230V: you just have to link the two transformer's primaries together is series.
By doing this, the transformer will accept 230V in input, and still delivers the SAME output voltage to the rest of the Power Supply.
when this 230V transformation is done, then you should a fuse with half the value of the original one.
If you are not familiar enough to perform this modification by yourself, ask to a technician: as it is very very simple, it should not cost you a lot of money !
Feel free to ask if you have any further question,
Nounours

Hello, nounours18200
Thank you very much for you advise. (I feel I am not alone for using Threshold, becasue not to many people in Thailand use this amp.)
Sorry I can not continue to asking you question on "Threshold lover forum".
My S/500 use fuse 15A (850 Watt Maximum both channels driven into 8 Ohm load) as You can see from Fuse Table in attached file herewith.
May be I miss to inform you some info.
I use S/500 more than 2 Years. This s/500 already use 220V., because i connect AC power cord from S/500 derectly to in Wall main power (220V), mean ex-owner/seller already transform the internal transfomer to adapt it to 220V sure.
So, I checked actual fuse at AC fuse of my S/500, still useing 15A (I think, ex-owner never change it. they just follow original fuse).
This case, Can i change to 8A?
Becasue I'm interesting in Audio Grand fuse "C3", but it very difficult to find 15A fast blow. They now have only 8A slow Blow.
The fuse seller said i can use 8A, but my friend (Engineer) just said to me today that i have to use 15A, becasue S/500 eat high power (850Watt...).
Sorry ya, my english is not good, I try to explain.
Please help.
P.S. I can try 8A right., because, if it can not use, the fuse just broken but no any damage to my lovely S/500?.
Thank you sir.

If your amp initially used a 15A fuse under 120V, it should be possible to use a 8A fuse when operating under 230V : be sure to use the same type of fuse (fast blow, etc...).
As you say, if the fuse blows (I do not see any reason for that), you wil just have to replace it.
Hope this helps,
